Each of our various programs are designed to target and treat specific behaviors and have been shown to be highly effective in doing so.
With nearly 15 years of experience training dogs, Beyond the Dog have become experts in the field. For owners in Kansas City, MO, Houston, TX, or Austin, TX, they have the opportunity to take advantage of our training programs. Each program has been carefully designed by our Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist.
As you look over our programs, you will find that each one varies in price, intensity, length, and much more. You can contact us, and we’ll help you find which program best fits your needs. Each program is created to reach the different needs of our clients and their pets. So, the program that will work best for you will depend on your situation. Here is a list of programs with some additional details down below.
This is one of the most intensive programs offered at Beyond the Dog. These sessions are each an hour-long, five times a week, and the whole training will last for four weeks. The trainer will work with your dog exclusively for four of the five days. On the fifth day, the owner will be involved. That way, you will have the opportunity to learn the training procedures.
This program is the other intensive program since it entails your dog staying at a trainer’s home. They will remain at the trainer’s home for three weeks. During these three weeks, the trainer will train the dog for at least one hour each day. The trainer will also schedule obedience sessions throughout the duration of your dog’s stay. Following the completion of the training program, the trainer will then meet with you three to four times to teach you the training process.
This training program is less intensive than the other two that have been mentioned. If you already have an idea of what behaviors you would like to focus on, then executive dog training is an excellent choice. This training will be for three times a week for three weeks. In this program, the trainer and the dog will meet two times a week for a period of three weeks. The third day of training will include the owner. This is when you will have the opportunity to learn the training techniques.
Private in-home training is a great option for those who are puppy owners or are a new dog owner. It is just the thing to give you an extra push at the start of training. What clients usually do is they will enroll in two-three sessions. The sessions will be a week or two apart, and during each session, the trainer will assess the progress of the training. Trainers are also there to answer any questions or concerns, so don’t be afraid to ask them anything.
If you are a returning client who has already completed one of our other training programs, you may want to consider our maintenance program. This program helps better off-leash obedience, reduce treats, and gives owners a chance to create their own obedience goals. The trainers will meet with your dog twice a week. These sessions may include the owner. However, it depends on the trainer’s objective for the week.
If you live outside of the Kansas City area, no worries. We offer video chat dog training! It can be a challenge to find an effective and professional dog training service. At Beyond the Dog, we strive to help owners find new techniques to train their dogs. Clients typically enroll in two to three sessions. During these sessions, the trainer will observe the dog, answer questions, and offer assistance. You will also be provided with written protocols.
Since 2005 Beyond the Dog has been perfecting our cat training programs. Our years of experience and credentials go unmatched throughout the Kansas City area. Beyond the Dog offers several cat training programs to help you with your feline friend. Our ever improving programs ensure we make the best use of our time!
Beyond the Dog does more than train dogs. They also have experience with cats and have programs that have also been around as long as our dog programs. Many like to refer to cats as “untrainable,” however, we know that isn’t the case. Nearly all pets are trainable. A bonus for many owners is that each of our cat programs are brought to the comfort of your own home.
If you have a cat that goes on walks with you in public areas, then our trainers can also train your cat in those areas. Our programs are made to fit the needs of each trainer and their cat or kitten. Just like our dog training programs, our cat training programs were created from scratch by our Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist. Each program listed below is available in each of our service areas. Check out our three cat training programs, along with some information about each one.
This program is the most intensive program for cats. It focuses on aggression, severe behavioral problems, and even minor behavioral problems. Our trainers will work with cats twice a week for a period of three weeks. On the third day of each week, the owner will be included. This is the time where you, as the owner, will have the opportunity to learn the training methods being used by the trainer.
This cat training program is for cats who are scratching furniture, or who refuse to use the litter box. Clients will usually sign up for two-three sessions of this program. These sessions are a couple weeks apart and are each an hour long. Our trainers will create a training regime that will center your cat’s specific behavior.
Just like video chat dog training, this training program is for owners who are outside of the Kansas City area. How many sessions are needed will depend on the cat’s behavior. However, many clients usually choose to have these sessions weekly or bi-weekly. You will be provided with a training procedure and a written form by the trainer.
Beyond the Dog doesn’t only help our clients with their dog and cat training needs, we offer services for nearly any companion animal. Our comprehensive understanding of animal behavior as well as how the environment influences behavior helps us extend our services to other pets. Beyond the Dog offers training programs for parrots, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, ferrets, and beyond!
Since Beyond the Dog has extensive knowledge and experience of animal behavior, they are great with various types of animals. Other pets such as ferrets, birds, pigs, rabbits, and more are equally as trainable. Every trainer at Beyond the Dog has a vast experience with various animals. Because of this, we want to offer clients obedience training for their pets.
For non-traditional pet owners, we have three program options. Each program is brought to your home, where we focus on behaviors such as fear, aggression, house soiling, vocalization, and more. Continue reading for more information below.
During this program, owners can expect training sessions to be three times a week. Two of the sessions will be the pet with the trainer only. The third session of the week will include the owner so they can learn the training methods. This training program requires a team effort from the trainer and the owner so the pet will learn the desired behavior.
Private in-home pet training is here to help with inappropriate chewing, vocalization, and house soiling. Owners will typically have two or three sessions. However, it will depend on the behavior. These meetings will be weekly or bi-weekly, and the trainer will create a training schedule for the owners to use outside of sessions.
Video chat pet training is for owners who are outside of the Kansas City area. Finding quality training for birds, rabbits, ferrets, and other animal friends can be a challenge. Anyone can take advantage of Beyond the Dog’s video chat program. Our trainers will give you a training protocol to follow and will assess progress during sessions.
While Beyond the Dog’s training programs don’t account for specific breeds, we do recognize how genetic and environmental factors affect a dog’s learning process. Since each case is different, our trainers will use different methods for multiple breeds. Typically, breeds like Pit Bulls and Corgis require the same type of training program. However, if the dog’s breed affects how it receives the training program, then the trainer will adjust their techniques.
Beyond the Dog trains all breeds but here are a few of the popular breeds we train:
- Boxer and Doberman
- Australian Shephard
- German Shepherd
- Pit Bull
- Labrador and Golden Retrievers
- Yorkie, Chihuahua and Toy Poodle
- French and English Bulldogs
Using our 15 years of experience, Beyond the Dog offers training that is adjusted for the breed. Each program caters to preventing breed-specific problem behavior while highlighting the strengths of each breed!
Each of our service areas works with all types of dog breeds. Check out our training programs and contact us to learn more about how they can help your specific dog’s breed.
Support animals are an important part of people’s lives. Here at Beyond the Dog, we train both service dogs and emotional support animals. As a team, we strive to be inclusive when it comes to pets, which is why we offer both. Often these roles are used interchangeably. However, there is a difference. Beyond the Dog seeks to educate clients about the varying differences of these roles.
Service dogs are formally trained. However, they can have more training and become more efficient. With additional training, your dog can complete the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation. This certification is the first step to even higher certifications.
Emotional support animals don’t require any formal training. While these animals are usually dogs or cats, it can be any type of animal. Beyond the Dog can offer formal training to any animal, so they are more obedient and able to fulfill their role to the fullest. Learn more about the difference between emotional support animals and service dogs by visiting our support animal training page.
