Katy Dease, B.S.
Katy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from McNeese State University where she spent most of her time at the school’s farm learning the practice of animal husbandry for various livestock. While attending college, Katy participated in research projects involving the use of aromatherapy to reduce stress in horses as well as shelter dogs.
After college she secured a position at a zoological park in her home state of Louisiana as an animal trainer working with the ambassador animal collection. She then went on to work for the Dallas Zoo for the free-flight bird and wildlife show where she worked with an amazing team of trainers to educate guests of the importance of wildlife conservation. Before joining the Beyond the Dog team, Katy was working with elephants training cooperative behaviors for medical care.
Katy has always been passionate about animal behavior and though she has had the opportunity to work with many exotic animals throughout her career, her favorite animals have always been dogs!
In her free time Katy enjoys reading a good book, hiking and sailing with her family.
