Board Certified Behavior Analyst
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is an individual that has earned a graduate degree with courses focusing on the science of behavior. Individuals seeking certification typically work under a BCBA to gain the necessary hands on experience. Once certified, BCBAs generally are professionals in the community who work with specific populations. Other BCBAs work in academic settings, focussing on research with specific populations. Across all BCBAs, the population varies, including but not limited to, children with autism, individuals with developmental delays, parents, teachers, business owners, CEOs, and yes, even animals!
The “-D” designation is for individuals with a doctoral degree and who meet standards set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. With additional training, BCBA-Ds supervise Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians, and other professionals providing behavior-analytic interventions.
