Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage is the CEO and a co-founder of Beyond the Dog, LLC. She attended the University of Kansas to secure her Ph.D. in Behavioral Analysis. Additionally, Dr. Krisytn Echterling-Savage is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB). This certification is provided through the Animal Behavior Society, and approximately 50 people in the United States carry such a certification. Furthermore, she is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has a Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis. Finally, she is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the largest organization of its kind in the country.

Dr. Echterling-Savage mainly focuses on supervising Beyond the Dog’s three locations: Kansas City, Houston, and Austin. She also assists her trainers throughout each of the three major service areas. In addition to her supervision and assistance, Dr. Echtering-Savage knows how important research is to her trainers and their clients. She challenges all of her trainers to learn something new with each encounter with clients and their dogs. She also ensures trainers use trusted training techniques, so owners know Beyond the Dog’s training programs are effective.

Research is an important part of Dr. Echterling-Savage’s life as she is always looking to improve animal training. Her activity in research has two major parts. Firstly, she wants to improve the tools trainers use, so they can make the most out of their time. Secondly, she ensures the effectiveness of current treatments and develops ways for owners to better understand training methods. She has presented her research at numerous conferences and seminars within the United States.

Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage divides her supervision between Kansas City, Houston, and Austin. Her support at each office is impactful for the trainers, clients, and pets. She strives to implement her knowledge of behavioral science in more than just dog and cat training. Kristyn shares her home with a German Shorthaired Pointer, a small, mixed breed, two cats, and a sulcata tortoise.
